before the hate mail comes in, know this: i feel very compassionate towards women who have had abortions. i am not angry with them. sin is sin. murder is murder. jesus forgives ALL sin. no exceptions.

i did not write this to assault women and call them names. i wrote this because we are pandering to sinful desires in this country and putting politically correct labels on them so we can assuage people's guilt.

i'd much rather focus on god's love. but when i read propaganda that's going out and influencing the thoughts of people, i must challenge them. unchallenged lies become accepted truths, as in the case of abortion and homosexuality. i don't hate people who sin. i sin. we are all sinners. but i have been forgiven of my sin and my heart is being renewed.

i want everyone to experience forgiveness. but that's not what this piece was about. it's about calling a spade a spade. until we do that, we're treading water in self-delusions.

I find it very interesting that Sarah is back in Alaska, and Barack is President elect. So what does that mean exactely about the prophet? I mean, biblically? I am just asking.

Great article. The more i research mccain and palin, the more i find about their christian foundation. This land needs healing and i feel with mccain and palin in the whitehouse, they will help to steer this country in the right direction.

Hey - don't worry about any popularity contests...I'm sure there's people online that don't like me. I just think that no matter what you do, you won't please everybody, so don't even try! :)

And to your point, @firesigntheatre, I am aware of the etymology of the word. But I have found that words take on an identity and presence of their own in everyday usage.

It's somewhat of a metaphysical statement, I know. But words carry an emotion or an intention, whether by their very makeup or by the tone/context in which they are used.

Atheists do not believe the world was created. Hence the theory of evolution. But this is not the place to have a creationism/evolution debate, so let's not go there now.

I'm an atheist. The word "atheist" is just a theist, the "a" prefix meaning "not." "Atheist" means "not a theist," just as "asymmetrical" means "not symmetrical." It has nothing to do with denying that theists exist (it implicitly says they do, just as "asymmetrical" implies that symmetrical things exist) .

And no, I don't hate god; I don't believe any gods exist. If you don't believe in e.g. Zeus, that's entirely different from hating Zeus.
